What has he done for you lately?

I hate it when you go to a designer’s website, and you can’t find any recent work he or she has done. Unfortunately, I’m one of the worst offenders. I love writing about design, but I rarely share my work with anyone other than my boyfriend, clients and potential clients.

Sure, I have a portfolio that spans my years of working as a designer, but what have I done for you lately?

To wit, here’s a taste of some of the projects I’ve completed in the past year. I’d love to hear what you think in the comments.

Stumped in Stumptown: Logo and identity (work in progress)

Stumped in Stumptown is a website by a friend of mine about this wacky place called Portland. Bright colors and a unique typeface give Stumped a fun retro feel. The stump symbol (I call it “Stumpy”) translates well as an icon for Facebook and Twitter.

Natural Medicine Works: Logo and identity revamp

Natural Medicine Works is owned by Dr. Pamela Jeanne, a naturopath with more than 45 years of healthcare experience. Dr. Jeanne asked for a logo that had “flow”! Because Dr. Jeanne works primarily with women, I paired the curvy design with a muted color palette of greens, blues and pinks.

CCDCS: Logo facelift and marketing materials

Sometimes it’s just not feasible for a client to put forth the time, effort and money required for a complete company rebrand. All things considered, CCDCS had a decent logo. But the typography needed a facelift in order to effectively convey the company’s professional image.

Contact Zones: Logo

This sample logo is for a grant program out of ESD 112 in Southwest Washington. If the grant receives funding, “Contact Zones” will teach students about the convergence of cultures along the lower Columbia River.

Southwest Washington Regional High School Art Show

A little plug here: I have coordinated the Southwest Washington Regional High School Art Show at ESD 112 for three years now, and the shear amount of talent by students in our ESD never ceases to amaze me. This year’s theme was inspired by the beautiful detail drawing of a fly by a student at Vancouver School of Arts & Academics.

Southwest Washington Child Care Consortium: Marketing materials

Southwest Washington Child Care Consortium (SWCCC), a program of ESD 112, had an established logo, color palette and typeface. For the 20th anniversary, I wanted to give SWCCC’s marketing materials a bright, light and child-like feel.

Mike, what a good idea to display recent work. This post is a nice visual sample of what you do (and how well you do it!). I especially liked the Contact Zones logo and how it visually communicated “contact” by having the C and Z touch. Great use of the theme cards to display the typefaces and color palettes for each project, too.
